Day Three

Does fun have to include food? For me the two went together like peanut butter & jelly. In the past I think I looked forward to the food more than the festivities at times. Today we went to hidden lake for a day of shenanigans. With temps in the 50’s it was a perfect day for biking, blading, and rock climbing! I packed the kids meals and snacks, and I packed mine. It’s craxy important when your on a strict diet that you have foods you CAN eat readily available,  because the foods  you CANT always are!
Unfortunately my preparedness only got me so far...because a raven stole my lunch! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Although there was a bit of discomfort having to skip a meal, in the big scheme of things it’s not the end of the world. I had a bottle of water and we continued on with our day. The chips, cookies, and other delicious snacks looked and smelled good...but I’m glad I stuck it out. It’s another successful day.

The best part of my day was reading with my kids at bedtime. When I’m in my funk; self loathing, self destructive, & unproductive funks,  I neglect the things that matter. Bedtime is a box to check so I can get back to my spot on the couch and unpauae the mindless entertainment bleeding through the television. When I have energy & hope I’m the mom I want to be, the mom my kids deserve. It isn’t a rushed and irritating task, but a time to connect with my kids. Just like the entire day...I was PRESENT in the moment with them.

It’s not just a diet. It’s a lifestyle change. How we eat, how much we weigh...whether we like it or not they really do affect our lives. They affect our mood, our attitude, & our ability to actively participate in a full life. I choose to change. I choose Metanoia.
